A wise man once said, that you can’t step into the same river twice. The river is in movement, and you are in movement – you are not the same at any point.
Sometimes, the creative proces is an attempt to capture the river in its movement, freezing the moment, you might say. It can be a difficult and potentially exhausting manoeuvre, if the experiment fails, and I think that all people, who work with their creativity, recognizes the feeling of, that the inspiration, or the creativity slips away through your fingers. That the capturing is somehow impossible.
I’ve written a song called “winterfire”, and last friday, I tried to record it at the studio, but I failed. I was tired and one attempt of playing it exhausted me. The river had somehow dried out within me.
Sunday, I tried again, and I did it, but when I left the studio, I had the feeling, that it still wasn’t right. Aske and Caspar agreed on this point – something wasn’t right. So which parameter should we work with? Is it the length of the song – is it too long? Is it the way, I sing it? Or play it? Is it the instrumentation? Is it the lack of instrumentation? Or is it simply a song, which, like a river, is impossible to capture in its movement?

Beside this one example, the process of the other songs are going great. Sunday, Aske recorded strings with two girls from The Royal Danish Academy of Music. Sounds fantastic. And Caspar and Aske made some delicious pianothings on the songs.
