Hello, my dear reader.
Welcome back. On Wednesday Aske and I went to the studio (the still nameless studio on Nørrebro) to make som overdubs on “Christmas is here”. The final part of the song hasn’t been recorded yet, so we began with discussing, how we should end the track – with parameters like instrumentation, sound and vibe.
We ended up deciding to try to make a feeling of “elevation” – that the song, in the final part, should be lifted up and driven forward in circular movement. So the directions are: up, forward and around – like snowflakes playing in the wind. One line in the final part of the song goes: “swans appear/like snow in the air/and suddenly we hear/that Christmas is here”. – So, we pretty much want to turn this vision into sound. What does it sound like? We still haven’t found out, but hopefully the ideas will grow within us.
Rocks & leaves
I began to do some vocals, and thought, that I should make lots and lots of choir-stuff. But after a few takes, Aske said, that we had enough. “Okay”, I said, “you’re the boss – but what to do now!?”. “Rythmical stuff”, he replied, “let’s find some rocks!” – and with that, he jumped out of the chair and rushed out in the lazy autumnsun. We came back with two stones and some leaves; Aske went into the vocal-box and began tapping the stones and crumpling the leaves, recording the noize, they produced. Crazy? Maybe, but the outcome was clever – perfect, actually. It looked like this:

Tomorrow, friday, we will be working three hours in the afternoon. I think, we will work on one of the other songs, but I’m not shure of which one. Come back sometime, and find out..
With love,
Jonas/Hymns from Nineveh
