It has been a wonderful December for me. I released “Uncomplicated Christmassongs” on 31st of November, and it has recieved a warm welcome from critics and listeners. The EP just recieved the honour of being “album of the year” at the Danish music blog Blaa Vinyl , and one of my favourite blogs, Regnsky, loves it – a very happy ending indeed!
Thank you for your comments and your support – it encourages me to work hard on the new album!
I have made a small lo-fi video for you with a song, that was meant to be on the EP: Endurance in Christmastime.
Christmas is here! Copenhagen is all covered in snow and disappointment. So – if your head is hanging low, then go to GAFFA.dk to see the mixtape, I have made for you.
It is 6 songs, that maybe’ll make your christmas a little better. (in addition to the uncomplicated ones, of course )
My favorite christmassongs (apart from the beautiful Danish psalms and hymns) are:
Bob Dylan: Winter wonderland Beach Boys: God only knows Mechanical Bird: Winter Light Wham!: Last christmas
Lennon: Happy X-mas/War is over
Sufjan Stevens: That was the worst christmas ever!
If you should make a mix-tape, what would it look like?!
10.08 AM: Woke up, realised I had overslept. Should have been @ Good Tape to have a meeting at 10 o’ clock!
10.40 AM: Meeting with labelboss Mads + Caspar and Aske. We brainstormed on the subject “What to do with the coming album”. We had a good dialogue. Decided to organize ideas and choose songs in January+February, so we would know what to do, when recordings begins in March. Exiting!
For English readers: What a crazy christmastime this is for Hymns from Nineveh! Currently, HFN is #1 on the overall-chart at Myspace Denmark! And – “Uncomplicated Christmassongs” are now available through iTunes. So go!

———
1) Hymns from Nineveh – Christmas is here
2) Lykke LI – Possibility
3) Kashmir – Mouthful of wasps
Du kan også gå ind på Barometerets hjemmeside og se hele listen og selv vælge dine favoritter.
Tak for din stemme!
Alt det bedste fra en glad hymnedreng
Phew, it has been some buzy days, so I haven’t had much time to write. Anyway – one of the things, I’ve been doing is rehearsing with a small band, who are going to play some concerts with me in december. It will be a band that will accompany me on tour in 2010 also. Yey!
Two of the people have already been playing a role on the EP, and also here on the blog: Jakob Brixen and Nikolaj Paakjaer. The third person is a highly skilled girl, who have accompanied me before, namely Christel Voldby Winther. I’m thrilled about what they have been capable of doing for the songs.
So, on Sunday, we played at a great venue in Copenhagen, called Huset i Magstraede. We had one of the best soundengineers I’ve ever met – the sound was great. Any musician knows how important this is. The audience was one of the most exited assembly, I have played for. Three encores and intense listening. It’s a gift to play for such an audience.
It was a good experience to play the songs with a band. Until now, I have been on my own, apart from the shows I did with Christel in spring 2008 and a couple of guest-apps. We haven’t have time to really get the songs under our skin, but I figure, that when we’ve played more concerts together, it will be truly fantastic!
Come to Aarhus next Friday (the 4th of December) and listen, if you’re in the neighbourhood. My dear friend, Mikael of Munich and In a city by the sea will play a couple of songs before our show. Mikael is truly one of the most talented songwriters in Denmark right now.
mess is more
With love
The hymnboy
