A day in the life

10.08 AM: Woke up, realised I had overslept. Should have been @ Good Tape to have a meeting at 10 o’ clock!

10.40 AM: Meeting with labelboss Mads + Caspar and Aske. We brainstormed on the subject “What to do with the coming album”. We had a good dialogue. Decided to organize ideas and choose songs in January+February, so we would know what to do, when recordings begins in March. Exiting!

00.10 PM: Late again – now for a radiointerview at the radioprogram Bazooka FM in Lyngby, a cozy Copenhagen-suburb.

01.00 PM: Made it just in time! I thought that the interrogation was to be done by an elderly man called Benny, but it turned out, that it was two young people, Cecilie and Simon of the age 16 & 17. We had a fine little chat. I talked about growing up in Africa, sources of inspiration and why you can’t walk around barefooted in Western Jutland.

02.00 PM: Radiointerview over. Can’t find my way back to the trainstation. The center of Lyngby is not that big, but I managed to get lost. I walk up and down the christmasdecorated streets while the snow gently covers the rooftops. Finally, I ask a strange, humming man wearing a heavy cologne for directions. Turns out, I had walked right passed the trainstation and made the wrong turn.

3.20 PM: Home. Finally. A couple of phonecalls and the day’s first web-cruizing. I realise, that I haven’t eaten all day. The punishment for oversleeping is getting behind with elemetary things.

05.00 PM: Talk to my mother on the phone. She reads an article from today’s local newspaper aloud – apparently, I’m on the front page.

05.30 PM: I come across Noize Magazine, where the good people of Bodebrixen in an interview says, that Hymns from Nineveh is one-to-watch in 2010. Thanx! Na na na na!

06.00 I think about what to write in the small article, GAFFA has asked me to write. It is a small “christmas-mixtape” where I recommend 5 christmassongs. I have found 4, but can’t seem to get the last one. Any suggestions, anyone?

07.00 I’m currently working on my BA-project, but I haven’t had the time for writing anything the last couple of months. I hope I will be able to write at least something tonight. For those of you, who might find this interesting, I write on the subject “intertextual strategies in two poems by Johannes V. Jensen“.

That was all for now.

Love from The Hymnboy

“O Come O Come Emmanuel” with Belle and Sebastian or Sufjan Stevens, is still the best christmas song. (my humble opinion ofc).
