Day 2 – Four good things.

Hello, Hello!

At least four good things happened in the studio today:

1) David Blomqvist (the gentleman who also played dbl.bass on the christmassongs) came by, and made the first guestappearance and did some doubblebass on Selma and So mournful the elegy… He was great! We did some rythmical experiments on both of them with the bass, it was a good creative process.

2) I had a guitarpart in mind for So mournful the elegy.. and I just couldn’t play it, because the leadguitar was in a rubato-feeling (which means, that it doesn’t have a steady pulse). Which is stupid, because that means, that if I can’t play together with the guitar, that I have recorded myself, then – who can?! But – we recorded it anyway, and Aske did some magic with some reverb and some tapedelay, and now it has the function of a soundlayer in stead of an actual instrument. Smooth.

3) So, instead we transformed the main idea of the guitarpart into a pianopart. Aske, who is a skilled pianist, played and recorded it, and it was so beautiful, that I almost cried. Afterwards we basically decided to start all over with So mournful.., because we think we have figured out, what to do. That’s one of the lessons in life – sometimes, you start somewhere and end up in another place than you intended, but that isn’t necessarily bad. Not in this case, anyway.

4) Good thing No. 4 was, that all this was documented on videotape! A good friend of mine, Søren K had volunteered to film a day in the studio – for what maybe will become a documentary some day.

Yes, boys and girls. That was today’s report. Tomorrow, Friday, we will begin where we ended – go on with the new and better version of So mournful. Stay tuned!
