Hey!

As you might know, I, The Hymnboy, have played som duo-concerts with my good friend, the wonderful songstress RebekkaMaria. The last couple of years we’ve played various places – at Store Vega, in a small church in Malmö, in a dome in Denmark, and at RebekkaMarias apartment. We play a selection of our respective songs in quiet, stripped down versions – and we call ourselves RebekkaMaria and The Hymnboy.

So – now (drum roll) we’ve released a digital live album with songs recorded at Store Vega and at RebekkaMarias apartment! It’s called Friendly Duets and is available NOW on iTunes, Wimp and Spotify!

I wont be writing so much about this fine side project here, but will do so at our Facebook page and on our blog. Go like!

We’re playing at SPOT Festival tomorrow, Friday at Musikhusets Lille Sal (17.30!), and will be touring in Denmark in September.

We’ve made a couple of videos for you to watch – one is in Danish (sorry!) and the other is a song we did at Store Vega, where fine people recorded with their smartphones.

Hi friends,

we had two fantastic experiences playing at Voxhall and Store Vega. The audience was amazing and we had a great time on stage! The talented photographer Kristian Gade took some cool photos at VEGA show – see them HERE. (We’ll post some more soon!)

So – next thing coming up for us is the festival season. It looks like it’s going to be a true Scandinavian summer of love for us. We’ll be visiting Sweden (twice!), Faroe Islands and Norway. Get updated at our concert calendar.

the last update from us was about christmas. It’s obviously not christmas anymore – it’s April, spring has arrived. Spring is about flowers rising from the frozen ground, spring is about new ideas, new leaves on the trees, etc. So – you might be wondering, what has happened since the last blog post? What’s new in the land of the band Hymns from Nineveh?

Well, in 2011 we released 2 albums and played +40 shows from March-December. 2011 was a pretty wild and fantastic year. 2012 will be GREAT!

In January we took some time off, but one of the things we did do was, that we moved to a new rehearsal space in the heart of Nørrebro, Copenhagen. We also bought a bunch of new instruments: an old piano, a mandolin, a bouzouki, a zither, an electric guitar and a bulbul tarang (also known as the shahi baaja).

In February we played our first two shows in Norway as a band – at the cool festival By:Larm. This was a great experience, and we can’t wait to come back to Norway (We’re playing @ Slottsfjell Festival in July!). Norwegian Gaffa was at one of the shows and gave it 5/6 stars. Whoah!

March was used for rehearsing for our shows in April. We’re playing two shows at two of the finest venues in Denmark:

Sunday 22nd of April we’re playing at STORE VEGA in Copenhagen. Saturday the 28th of April we’re playing at Voxhall in Aarhus. This will be our only Danish club shows for quite a while. We will be supported by the great, great band Alice Sings the Petterson Songbook. We hope to see as many of you as possible!

This morning we played “Christmas is Here” on Danish National Television.

And Christmas is here. We – The Hymnboy and The Hymnband want to wish you a verry merry christmas, and thank you for your support during this year! A year where we released two albums and played +40 concerts in Denmark. It has been a wonderful year, and we’re already looking forward to 2012.

May the christmas time bring you comfort and joy.

here’s a clip from Danish television (TV2 News) last night. It starts at 2:20. It’s pretty much about “Endurance in Christmas Time” and all the great reviews it’s got so far.

Yeah.

Tonight we’re playing in Copenhagen – in one of Copenhagens biggest and oldest churches – Vor Frelsers Kirke. We can’t wait!! It’ll be our last show in Copenhagen this year. You can buy your ticket here.

After the show we’re going to the GAFFA Awards, where we’re nominated for a prize called “Best New Act” of the year. Exciting. I’ve never been to an award show before. Let’s see what happens.

Yes, it's #1

Hey Friends,

So many good things are happening, it’s hard to keep up!

A short list of what’s good in these days:

- The biggest Danish music magazine, GAFFA, has named “Hymns from Nineveh” as Danish Album of the Year 2011. This is crazy. And wonderful. We’re proud.
- The readers of GAFFA have nominated Hymns from Nineveh as Best New Act of 2011 for the “GAFFA Prisen”. The winner will be announced at an award show the 8th of December.
- “Anywhere with You” is in heavy rotation on the Danish National Radio, which is nice, but what is nicer is that it is being tested on two user-designed hitlists, Systemlisten and Det Elektriske Barometer – we would be happy if you would go and give it a heart!

Last, but not least: We’re playing our Christmas Tour these days, and so far it’s been a fantastic experience playing the new songs for those, who came. You can still catch us here:

Beloved readers

Our autumn tour has ended – 17 shows in 17 beautiful Danish cities in one month. We have had a fantastic time together with all you guys, who showed up. Thank you so, so, so much for your support! It has been an autumn of love for us.
I’ll soon post some more pictures from our tour, but until then, go HERE to view some fine photos from our last show in Randers, where the fantastic photographer from Venstrehaandsarbejde showed up.

On thursday I, the Hymnboy, will play a duo show with RebekkaMaria at one of the best venues in Denmark, namely Store Vega. It’s an event called “Nordic Sounds”, where Scandinavian artists such as Jonathan Johansson, Susanne Sundfør and Sóley will play their songs. And RebekkaMaria and I. And our good friend Michael Møller. It’s gonna be great! Hope to see some of you!

One last thing: You might know Mikael Kærsgaard, who, besides playing electric guitar in Hymns from Nineveh, he also makes wonderful music in Munich (who supported us on the fall tour), and in Kites & Komets. There’s been made a short film about his appearance at SPOT Festival, where he played 3 concerts in one day. Rock ‘n’ roll!
