The crazyness continues..

Hi, folks!

This morning, very early morning, Hymns from Nineveh played on Danish national television. It was our first TV appearance ever, so we were a tiny bit nervous (mildly put).

You can watch it HERE!

Thank you so much for your kind words – they are very much appreciated!!

All the best,

Party Party

Hi, everyone,

We released the album yesterday, and you made the miracle happen: It went directly to the top spot as the best selling album on iTunes!

I can’t thank you enough.

So – now we’re throwing you a release party. It will be the third of March at Ideal Bar in Copenhagen. Free entrance. Hymns from Nineveh will play a small, acoustic show (without drumz and bazz – that’ll have to wait till the tour!).

My dear friends in Mechanical Bird and my friend RebekkaMaria will be there as well, and play some of their lovely tunes. You can tjeck out the Facebook-event here.

Mechanical Bird is Jakob Brixen’s solo project, as you may know – and he’s a contender for Danish National Radio’s hitlist “Det Elektriske Barometer”. Go listen and vote for him – just by klicking the hearts (you must vote for 4 more artists).
That’s it.

Hope you enjoy the record.

With love,

Jonas the Hymnboy

The day has come..

Friends! The day I and the rest of the hymnpeople have been waiting for has come.

The album releases today.

We spent almost a year in Pinligtavshed trying to create the best album we could think of, and we’re very, very pleased with and proud of the outcome.

So – now it’s yours. I hope it will give you comfort and joy.

The Danish critics have been very happy with it so far. You can go to the reviews-section to get an overview.

It is available on iTunes, and many many other places.

With love,

Jonas the hymnboy.

LP News + How to purchase outside Denmark

Hi, everyone!

I just held my first copy of the LP today. It’s so beautiful! Katrine Esther Stern Johansen really did a magnificent job with both the cover for both the LP and the CD!

Some of you Danes have asked, where you’ll be able to buy the LP. You can find it @ Route 66 in Aarhus & Copenhagen + some other record stores, but definitely in Route 66. BUT – those of you who want to buy a LP record must wait until tuesday – sorry. I’m not shure why. 1 day delayed isn’t as bad as it could be, I guess. CD and download will still be available on monday – yipee!

Some of you who live outside Denmark have have asked where to find the album – you can order the CD at iMusic. Though it’s a Danish webshop, there should be no problem ordering from the U.S., Russia or Brazil. But tell me, if there is.

That’s all for now. I think I’ll have a glass of red wine while I listen to the new Radiohead album.

All the best

Jonas

BUT – if you want to preorder the CD, you can do it at iMusic (and you can even get a limited signed copy!) Yes – that’s right, I will write a small note saying how much I appreciate your purchase. But you have to be quick.

That’s all, folks. Can’t wait.

Practice with the band

Hi, readers!

Something exciting is happening in the land of Hymns from Nineveh: we’re practicing for the springtour! We’re in the final stage of the booking, so it will be only a short while before I can say something about the concerts – but you might wonder who “we” are?

Well, those of you, who have been attending a Hymns from Nineveh-concert in 2010, might recognize these three lovely people:

Christel Voldby Winther - violin & vocal

Jakob Brixen - banjo, singing saw, accordion & vocal

Nikolaj Paakjær Mikkelsen - piano, glockenspiel, percussion & vocal

Christel has actually been playing live with me in Hymns from Nineveh since 2007, Nikolaj and Jakob (who I call Niko & Jake) came along in late 2009. I’m very greatful that these three beauties still want to play with me. They’re extraordinaryly creative with their instruments and their ideas – maybe because they are songwriters themselves. Christel makes I et stille hus, Jakob makes Mechanical Bird and Nikolaj makes Even if it’s me!

Sometimes we’ve been lucky to have company by one of my dearest and most talented friends, Mikael Kærsgaard of Munich and Kites & Komets. He’s a guitar virtuoso and a lovely man (and has a beard that makes any man in the room jealous!)

So – Christel, Jakob and Nikolaj, and occasionally Mikael, have been playing with me for quite a while now. But – the last couple of weeks we’ve been practicing with yet two more people – making the live constellation of Hymns from Nineveh a SEXTETTE!!!

The two musicians are none other than…. read more »

News

My ears have the same colour as the red band on the cover of my upcoming album

Dear fans, friends and listeners

Yesterday the album was available for streaming through Bandcamp. Today it’s not.

I’m sorry I had to take it down; I’d be happy to share it with all of you, but there is a plan and a record company and some other folks, and according to the big masterplan, we’re not supposed to release the music for streaming yet.

But yes, for a short while it was possible to listen to it on Bandcamp. I’m so happy and thankful for the fantastic response it got; I saw a lot of people passing the link forward on Twitter and Facebook, and I don’t think you’d have done that, if you didn’t like the music.

What happened was that we were preparing some download-codes for the LP-edition and for reviews, and while we were doing that, a bat, looking like Lady Gaga flew through an open window, which confused one of the girls in the office so much, that she dropped the jaw, which hit the CEO on top of his head. In surprise the CEO jumped from the chair and landed on the officedogs tail, causing the dog to howl very loud and running scared directly into the desk, where the communications officer was busy setting up the Bandcamp. As the desk took a jump, without him noticing it, he accidentially put a mark in the wrong place and that was why the album suddenly was available for streaming.

We have now closed the window and I hope you’ll forgive me and my friends at Good Tape (and the bat!) for this mess.

I’m looking so much forward to share the album with YOU in just a few weeks!!!

With love,

Jonas, the hymnboy
