Them lists

Dear friends,

I’m so thrilled to see that Sister Sorrowsong has made it to THE TOP at the Soundvenue High 5 list! I’m so grateful for your votes!! THANK YOU!! It would be graite if you could take your time to vote for it again?

Also – this weekend Sister Sorrowsong was tested as a contender for BOTH lists at Danish national radio, P3: “Systemlisten” and the list for alternative music, Det Elektriske Barometer! This is HUGE! But – the finest moment was when wingman in Hymns from Nineveh, Jakob Brixen, made it to the TOP at Det Elektriske Barometer with his Mechanical Bird – thank you so much for your help :) !

So – now I would like to ask you, if you could take the time to put a heart next to Sister Sorrowsong (+4 other artists) at Det Elektriske Barometer (I of course highly recommend that you vote for Mechanical Bird as well!), and (if you haven’t already voted) at Systemlisten (+2 other artists) . I’m sorry to spam you with these things, but you decide these lists, people, so it’s up to you :) ! Deadline is tomorrow at noon.

Pics from Ideal Bar

Hi, folks,

Søren Kiilerich and Søren Clemmensen took some great pictures from the release party @ Ideal Bar. It was an evening full of love and music. And +250 people. Beautiful.

High 5!

High five, friends!

There are (at least!) 5 good pieces of news for you:

1) Hymns from Nineveh’s “Sister Sorrowsong”  is a contender on the Soundvenue-chart “High 5″! What an honor!

You can help Sister Sorrow enter the list, if you have a Soundvenue-profile.

So – a big THANK you if you do so.

2) Also – Soundvenue recommend Hymns from Nineveh’s forthcoming concerts in March. Hope to see you there!

3) There’s a large interview with The Hymnboy in today’s Kristeligt Dagblad, and you can read it all here (it’ll probably only make sense, if you speak Danish, sorry!).

4) My dear friend Jakob Brixen from the Hymnband has a soloproject called Mechanical Bird, well, you know that, but: Last sunday he made it to a 2nd place at the Danish national radio show Det Elektriske Barometer. You can help him to the top spot by clicking the hearts (you have to vote for 4 other artists as well!). I would be thrilled to see this beautiful bird fly over all the others.

5) We, the hymnband had a 6 hour rehearsal yesterday, and continue tonight. We are extremely excited about what we create together – and we look forward to the 11th of March. And the 12th. And the 13th.
That was 5 good things, wasn’t it?

All the best,

Jonas, the Hymnboy

Party Party

Hi, everyone,

We released the album yesterday, and you made the miracle happen: It went directly to the top spot as the best selling album on iTunes!

I can’t thank you enough.

So – now we’re throwing you a release party. It will be the third of March at Ideal Bar in Copenhagen. Free entrance. Hymns from Nineveh will play a small, acoustic show (without drumz and bazz – that’ll have to wait till the tour!).

My dear friends in Mechanical Bird and my friend RebekkaMaria will be there as well, and play some of their lovely tunes. You can tjeck out the Facebook-event here.

Mechanical Bird is Jakob Brixen’s solo project, as you may know – and he’s a contender for Danish National Radio’s hitlist “Det Elektriske Barometer”. Go listen and vote for him – just by klicking the hearts (you must vote for 4 more artists).
That’s it.

Hope you enjoy the record.

With love,

Jonas the Hymnboy

Practice with the band

Hi, readers!

Something exciting is happening in the land of Hymns from Nineveh: we’re practicing for the springtour! We’re in the final stage of the booking, so it will be only a short while before I can say something about the concerts – but you might wonder who “we” are?

Well, those of you, who have been attending a Hymns from Nineveh-concert in 2010, might recognize these three lovely people:

Christel Voldby Winther - violin & vocal

Jakob Brixen - banjo, singing saw, accordion & vocal

Nikolaj Paakjær Mikkelsen - piano, glockenspiel, percussion & vocal

Christel has actually been playing live with me in Hymns from Nineveh since 2007, Nikolaj and Jakob (who I call Niko & Jake) came along in late 2009. I’m very greatful that these three beauties still want to play with me. They’re extraordinaryly creative with their instruments and their ideas – maybe because they are songwriters themselves. Christel makes I et stille hus, Jakob makes Mechanical Bird and Nikolaj makes Even if it’s me!

Sometimes we’ve been lucky to have company by one of my dearest and most talented friends, Mikael Kærsgaard of Munich and Kites & Komets. He’s a guitar virtuoso and a lovely man (and has a beard that makes any man in the room jealous!)

So – Christel, Jakob and Nikolaj, and occasionally Mikael, have been playing with me for quite a while now. But – the last couple of weeks we’ve been practicing with yet two more people – making the live constellation of Hymns from Nineveh a SEXTETTE!!!

The two musicians are none other than…. read more »
